About this role
The Loomex Group is hiring a supervisor for the Detour Lake Mine Airport in Northeastern Ontario. The successful candidate will oversee daily operations, ensure compliance with Transport Canada regulations, and lead the team in maintaining safety and operational excellence.

What you’ll do
- Lead the operations team, ensuring all activities comply with Transport Canada regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Supervise emergency response, wildlife management, winter maintenance, and the operation of aerodrome maintenance equipment.
- Manage daily maintenance tasks, including the operation of loaders, graders, snow blowers, and trucks (single and tandem axle).
- Oversee routine inspections of the airfield, runways, and airside facilities.
- Coordinate and participate in minor maintenance on airfield equipment and systems.
- Ensure adherence to the safety management system and lead training programs for staff.
- Direct below-wing operations, including aircraft marshalling, ground handling, and de-icing.
- Mentor and support staff, providing guidance on best practices and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 secondary school education or equivalent
- Strong leadership and communication skills for supervising and collaborating with a team
- Knowledge of equipment maintenance (421A/310T certification is an asset)
- Experience with heavy equipment operations and general construction is advantageous
- Computer literacy for reporting and operational management
- Problem-solving abilities and a proactive mindset
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
Qualifications considered an asset
- Valid DZ or AZ license with a clean driver’s abstract
- Heavy equipment operator certification
- Aviation-specific education or Level 2 aviation management training
- An aeronautical radio license or pilot’s license
Working conditions
- This position involves 48 hours of work per week on a rotating schedule.
- The supervisor will commute to Timmins, ON, or Cochrane, ON, for transportation to Detour Lake Mine.
- Meals and accommodation are provided during the work period.
- Benefits include an annual health spending account, a clothing and boot allowance, and a monthly fuel allowance.
- Winter hours may vary depending on weather conditions.
