About this role

The Loomex Group is looking for an airport operations and compliance specialist to join its team. This role will work under the supervision of our company’s Director of Airport Operations.

As the airport operations and compliance specialist, you will perform data collection, follow up with staff members about assigned tasks, and monitor the status of various compliance requirements. You will also help create data-based recommendations to help airports solve complex business problems.

What you’ll do

  • Assist the director of airport operations with daily duties, including task management, follow-up meetings, and strategic initiatives.
  • Provide support and relief to airports (as required).
  • Collect, analyze, and document compliance data for individual airports and The Loomex Group (as applicable).
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting on airport operations, focusing on safety, environmental sensitivity, and cost-efficiency.
  • Collaborate with airport managers and compliance specialists to gather and consolidate information across different sites.
  • Work independently to gather operational data and contribute to strategic decisions.
  • Propose innovative solutions to complex or undefined operational challenges.
  • Monitor compliance with Transport Canada regulations, safety management systems, and other relevant regulatory frameworks.
  • Support the development of airport master plans, strategic business development initiatives, and performance reviews.
  • Help prepare and present reports and recommendations to senior management personnel.
  • Follow up on business diagnostic initiatives, ensuring that tasks are completed efficiently and within the scope of regulatory compliance.
  • Provide ad hoc support with completing risk assessments, quality assurance reviews, and capital expenditure evaluations.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in aviation, business, performance measurement and benchmarking, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • Proficiency with TP 312 (3rd, 4th, and 5th editions)
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian Aviation Regulations, safety management systems, and Transport Canada standards
  • High proficiency in data collection, analysis, and reporting
  • Creativity and a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Strong communication skills (written, verbal, and digital), including the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and present data and insights effectively
  • Passion for learning about airport operations, leadership, and compliance
  • Strong organizational skills, self-discipline, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities independently
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint

Other qualifications considered an asset

  • Bilingual in English and French
  • Familiarity with airport operations software and management systems
  • Prior experience in an airport or an aviation-related environment

Working conditions

  • This is a full-time permanent position with a 40-hour work week. Most work is performed from Monday to Friday.
  • This role requires flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends (when required due to project demands, strategic initiatives, and work deadlines).
  • This position is based at The Loomex Group’s office in Peterborough, Ontario.
  • The incumbent will primarily work on-site/in-office, but occasional off-site work and attendance at in-person meetings will be required.
  • The role involves periodic travel to different airport sites for compliance checks and strategic initiatives.
